Coriell Institute for Medical Research (www.coriell.org) is an internationally known, non-profit, biomedical research institution headquartered in Camden, NJ. Founded in 1953, Coriell maintains the world’s leading biobank resource for biological materials.

The National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) supports a DNA biobank and cell repository at Coriell. This biobank creates cell lines, DNA and other materials from blood or tissue samples and makes these important resources available to scientists worldwide to facilitate research on the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease. The biobank is currently collecting samples from individuals with rare, inherited genetic diseases and chromosomal abnormalities. Donation requires a blood or tissue sample and completion of an informed consent form, a submission form and a clinical information summary form. Coriell provides a sample collection kit and covers the cost of shipment. Coriell can reimburse donors up to $40 for the cost of having blood drawn. Interested donors may contact:

FAQs about the NIGMS HGCR

Coriell is also home of the Coriell Personalized Medicine Collaborative® (CPMC®) research study, a forward-looking project aimed at understanding the utility of genome-informed medicine and identifying genetic variants associated with common complex disease and variation in drug response (http://cpmc.coriell.org).
