Licensure in New Jersey

The Genetic Counselor's Licensing Act (A269) was signed into law in April 2009. The Genetic Counseling Advisory Committee wrote the rules and regulations of licensure (approved by the Governor's Council in 2013). Licenses have been issued starting 7/23/2014.

IMPORTANT 7.12.2018 UPDATE:

CEUs, including one hour of ethics, are required for the third cycle of NJ GC license renewal.  The renewal process will begin 60 days prior to the 6/30/2020 license expiration date.  Please refer to the above website (GC Advisory Committee) and the NJ GC license rules and regulations for more information.
